Michael Ezzell

With over 30 years of trial practice, Mike Ezzell confidently works through the informal dispute resolution process to moderate the time-consuming, costly process of the jury trial. He has been certified by the National Institute for Mediation and has also obtained his Advanced Certification in Family, Child Custody and Divorce.
He firmly believes in encouraging the parties to work together to achieve a solution that is acceptable to all.

Michael Ezzell focuses his practice on general Civil Litigation, Business Disputes, General Negligence, Trucking and Transportation and Product Liability.
Mike Ezzell has represented parties in lawsuits throughout Central and South Texas for over 30 years. He has earned the coveted “AV Preeminent Rating” for highest levels of professional excellence from Martindale Hubbell, the highest rating a lawyer can achieve. In addition, Mr. Ezzell has successfully earned the 20 Year “AV” rated award from Martindale Hubbell.

Representative cases:

Represented an international tire manufacturer against allegations of design and manufacturing defect in a multiple fatality and brain injury case.  Four week trial resulted in a jury verdict for the defendant.  This case was successfully defended on appeal, and can be found at 330 S.W. 3rd 733, (Tex. App. – Texarkana, December 17, 2010).

Successfully obtained the application of Mexican and Honduran damage law in a product liability lawsuit involving the deaths of 19 undocumented workers in a refrigerated trailer. United States District Court, Southern District of Texas, Victoria Division, Opinion found at 2010 WL 5387599.  The incident was made the basis of the  book, “Dying to Cross: The Worst Immigrant Tragedy in American History.” by Jorge Ramos.

Mr. Ezzell’s background in Engineering and Patent Law not only has served him well in  handling product liability and catastrophic injury cases, but also provides him with unique qualifications for mediating disputes that involve technical and scientific issues. Mike is Board Certified by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization in Civil Trial Law and in Personal Injury Trial Law.
